SAM Ministries has been feeding malnourished people in Mozambique for over 20 years.

Over the 20+ years since the SAM Ministries Feeding program started, it has grown and been able to provide food to malnourished people of all ages, thanks to a generous organization in Canada who heard about the need and partnered with us every year. However, with the challenges of COVID-19, they informed us they would not be able to continue their support. Three years ago, with help from people like you, we overcame this loss in funding and doubled our fundraising goal through the Steps to Stop Hunger program. For the past two years we surpassed our increased goals (due to rising food costs) and again met the needs of the hungry we serve.

Steps to Stop Hunger is an annual fundraising program and the primary means of funding the SAM Ministries Feeding program. This year we are increasing our goal again to account for a terrible drought and large increase in food costs, as well as adding more children to our program due to the critical need.

While we are excited about the opportunity to expand our reach, it comes with the formidable challenge of feeding more children at increased food prices!

“Our program is currently providing approximately 5700 meals per week to impoverished children, widows and other malnourished people and the needs are always growing.”

Our goal this summer is to raise $95,000 through “Steps to Stop Hunger” to continue meeting this critical need in Mozambique. Our program currently provides approximately 5700 meals per week to impoverished children, widows, and other malnourished people, and the needs are continually growing. Every year the mission buys 60 tons of corn, 10 tons of beans, milk, milk formula and supplies needed for our fruit and vegetable production to provide food for those in our program. Our own production plays a large part in providing added nutrition for our feeding program. To give you an idea, the mission grew 14 tons of fruit and vegetables for the program in 2022!

The funds raised will enable us to buy the corn, beans, milk, milk formula and supplies needed for our own fruit and vegetable production for next year. With your help, we can reach our goal and continue to feed hundreds of malnourished people in Mozambique.
